LABORATORIES AND FACILITIES

Access to organizations representing individuals with disabilities, USF has access to individuals with disabilities through several of its partner institutions listed below.  The Rehabilitation Engineering Technology Program is actively involved in rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals with disabilities into both home and work environments.

The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, a JCAHO accredited hospital, is a 580 bed facility that provides comprehensive inpatient, primary, secondary, and tertiary care in medical, surgical, neurological, rehabilitation, and short-term psychiatric modalities, primary and specialized ambulatory care and rehabilitation nursing home care through its attached 240 bed nursing home care unit. Specialized programs are offered in treatment of chronic pain, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and general rehabilitation. The Spinal Cord Injury Center at the Tampa VAMC is one of the largest SCI centers in the country, serving over 1500 people with spinal cord injury. It is currently recognized as a Center of Excellence. The average census is 45 patients. Usually 5-10 of these patients are admitted for care of community acquired pressure ulcers.
