Community Service

The USF RETP is involved in the community service at several levels.  The following are a few examples of the service

Helping athletic dreams come true: Robyn Stawski's dream of becoming a world-champion athlete is a little bit closer to coming true, thanks to the work of USF mechanical engineering students.  The students designed a chair for Stawski, who has cerebral palsy, to use while participating in Paralympic track-and-field events. She first used the chair during the Paralympics International Challenge in Orlando on May 4, and received the silver medal in the discus throw. Introducing K-12 students to RETP: Every year, an expo is held at USF where area high school students are introduced to engineering.  We have used this opportunity to show how RETP is developing integrated rehabilitation technology systems that increases employment of individuals with disabilities.
